PRE AND POST CARE - AESTHETICS

PRIOR TO INJECTABLES

To minimize the possibility of bruising please remember 1 week prior to your appointment to stop the following:

  • Supplements such as Omega 3’s (fish oil, flax seeds)

  • Vitamin E

  • Aspirin

  • Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin)

  • Naproxen (Aleve)

Tylenol is okay.

No alcohol within 24 hours of treatment.

DERMAL FILLERS

Normal occurrences after soft tissue filler are:

  • Bruising, swelling, tenderness in the area of injection, and area may appear uneven as swelling resolves.

  • Initial numbness right after your treatment should only last approximately 30 minutes. When the numbing effect wears off, mild discomfort may be experienced. You may take Tylenol if needed, but most of the time it is not necessary.

  • Swelling will typically resolve within 2-3 days. Cold compresses may be used to reduce swelling. Avoid salt in your diet if you have swelling as the salt may increase or delay resolution of swelling.

  • Warm compresses can help resolve bruising faster.

  • Until the initial redness and swelling have resolved, avoid exposure of the treated area to intense heat (ie sun lamps or sun bathing).

  • Alcohol consumption within 24 hours after treatment can increase bruising.

  • Heavy exercise within a day or two after treatment can increase swelling.

  • Additional treatments may be recommended in 6-12 months depending on the filler used and where it was injected. Check with your practitioner regarding your particular needs.

NEUROTOXINS

The following occurrences are common after a neurotoxin treatment:

  1. Bruising, soreness in and around injection area and swelling and redness to the injection area

  2. Minor asymmetry of muscle movement is normal for the first 7-10 days after treatment.

During the first four hours after your treatment: Please refrain from rubbing, massaging or applying pressure to the injection sites. Refrain from facials, massages or heavy exercise, particularly any exercise that involves inversions (i.e. yoga).

It may take 10-14 days for the neuromodulator to take effect. If you are experiencing movement in the area during that time and are concerned about it, we will probably ask you to wait the full 2 weeks before additional units are added.

SCULPTRA

Normal occurrences and aftercare following Sculptra treatment are:

  • Mild redness, swelling, or tenderness at the injection site is common and typically resolves within a few days. Treated areas may appear uneven as the product settles.

  • You may feel small lumps under the skin where the Sculptra was injected. These are usually temporary and resolve on their own.

  • Minor bruising may occur. Cold compresses can be used to help reduce swelling during the first 24 hours.

  • Use the 5/5/5 rule: Massage the treated area for 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days post-treatment. This helps distribute the product evenly and supports optimal collagen stimulation.

  • Avoid intense heat (e.g. sun exposure, tanning beds, saunas) and vigorous exercise for 24-48 hours to reduce the risk of swelling and irritation.

  • Alcohol and blood-thinning medications (e.g. aspirin, ibuprofen) may increase the risk of bruising and should be avoided for at least 24 hours before and after treatment.

  • Sculptra results develop gradually over several weeks as your body produces new collagen.

  • Follow-up treatments may be needed depending on your aesthetic goals and the treatment area. Most patients require a series of sessions spaced about 4-6 weeks apart.

  • Results typically last up to 2 years once the full series is complete.
